He was there before Whistling Straits

At the first PGA tournament hosted at Whistling Straits in 2004, a 73-year-old Sheboygan man sidled up to the bar there and said to the bartender, “You know, I used to run this place.”

The bartender could tell by his age that the man was referring to a time a half-century before the 160 acres stretching along the lakefront was a golf course.
