Rachael Lallensack

Freelance Journalist

Thanks for checking out my website. Here's the short version: My name is Rachael Lallensack and I'm a journalist. I've written about a teenager baking her way to college. I've also written about the fatal officer-involved shooting of an unarmed black teenager. Journalism, for me, is about explaining complicated ideas to the public, which brought me to investigative reporting and science writing. Take a look at one woman's struggle with pesticides in her family's drinking water. Or sailfish group hunting, supercharged silly putty, and a switch that sets off a mouse's predatory hunting instincts.

From reporting, writing, editing and fact-checking to photography, video, social media and layout design, my arsenal of media skills is wide-ranging and always growing. I am eager to challenge myself creatively and excited to teach myself a new skill set.

In the next five to 10 years, I see myself as an editor at a publication I am passionate about. After moving through the editorial ranks of The Badger Herald, a 501(c)(3) non-profit student newspaper, in college, I learned how to run a newsroom. Having the ability to create a vision for our company and execute it opened new doors for my career trajectory.
